The Dance of the Vajra is a teaching, not an ordinary dance that can be done anywhere however one wishes. People who are interested in the Dance of the Vajra must also be interested in the Dzogchen teaching and in the Dzogchen transmission.
The Dance of the Vajra is for integrating contemplation with our existence. If we do not possess the base of the Dzogchen teaching or have not received its transmission, what do we integrate? There is nothing to integrate.
First of all, we should enter that state and then integrate our actual existence of body, voice, and mind in that condition. That is why we have Vajra Dances in the Dzogchen teaching.
Chögyal Namkhai Norbu
It belongs to Chögyal Namkhai Norbu’s Longsal series of teachings.
The Dance of the Song of the Vajra is related to the syllables of the Song of the Vajra, so while we dance we sing the words of the Song of the Vajra since a correspondence exists between each of its sounds and our physical body.
During the course we will learn the steps on the Mandala connecting them to their syllables. We will understand how to coordinate the movements of the dance with time.
In particular, for Ati yogins and yoginis,
By applying the Dance of the Vajra with their bodies
May all the impurities of the elements be eliminated
And may their purity ripen into the body of light.Chögyal Namkhai Norbu
