In this talk the pervasive importance of sound in the cosmogonical and cosmological thoughts of ancient India will be discussed, as well as the way in which it was later inherited in the Tibetan tradition. Starting from these essential ideas, we will consider their application in language, ritual and particularly in the practice of mantra.

Translator from Tibetan and teacher of classical Tibetan Language. He is director of the Atiyoga Foundation school for Tibetan Language and translation, academic director of the Shangshung Institute UK. He has published a variety of translations and essays on various topics concerning the Tibetan spiritual Tradition, about which he also gives talks.
