Indian and Tibetan doctrine of sound

In this talk the pervasive importance of sound in the cosmogonical and cosmological thoughts of ancient India will be discussed, as well as the way in which it was later inherited in the Tibetan tradition. Starting from these essential ideas, we will consider their application in language, ritual and particularly in the practice of mantra.
